Nasa’s in great shape

Two separate feel-good items from Nasa today:

First we have a charming act of sabotage.  Acting in a manner befitting a Jeff Goldblum character in a summer blockbuster,  an unidentified Nasa worker was caught deliberately sabotaging a computer which was to be taken to the Space Station aboard the shuttle Endeavour.  Nasa won’t speculate on motive, however.  Shame…I could use a diaper laden tail of unrequited love to spice up my evening.

Next up are the findings of an independent panel which was set up to look into the health and well-being of the afore-alluded diaper drama.  The panel found a pattern of astronauts breaking the 12 hour “bottle to throttle” rule.  That rule being that you should not drink and fly spaceships.  Of particular note were two occasions on which astronauts were allowed to fly even after flight surgeons and other astronauts deemed them so drunk as to pose a flight-safety risk.

Bush plans coup in U.S.

The BBC is reporting on a 1933 conspiracy to overthrow the FDR government and align the US with the growing fascist movements in Germany and Italy.  Right out of the pages of Roth’s “Plot Against America”, this coup was put together by a group of right-wing fat cats.  Furthermore, Prescott Bush, the founder of the current Bush dynasty, was a member.

One more time: the Bush dynasty has its roots in a plot to overthrow the US government and align America with the Nazis.

Dawn Chorus — Human voiced bird songs

Artist Marcus Coates latest piece “Dawn Chorus” features humans singing the morning songs of birds.  Coates first records the birdsongs and slows them down so that the songs are voiced in the human vocal range.  He plays these songs to human singers, and tapes them as they sing the songs they hear.  Then he speeds up the sound and video to place the human recording back into the vocal range of the bird.  The results are stunning: I’d love to try it.
