Lately Jacob has taken to authoring elaborate presentations to commemorate the various special days which come about. My first whiff of this one was last Friday when Jacob told me right out that incredible things were happening upstairs for Father’s Day. When I told him that the actually day would be Sunday, he rushed upstairs [...]

I read on BoingBoing this morning that my old pal Mr. Wizard has passed away. Jer and I used to watch Mr. Wizard quite often, and it was just a great show. The experiments were always exciting, but the thing that made the show different from anything I’ve seen since were the [...]

Yesterday at Wellesley Park Jake’s friend Eli seems to have buried him in the sand. Leaving only what Jake described as a “live ball” (his head I think). Eli’s Mom Janis caught it all on video thankfully, so even though I missed the action, I was able to appreciate the drama.

Today was the day of the Spring Concert at Winchester PS, where Jacob goes to Junior Kindergarten! We were treated to the musical stylings of each class in Jake’s school. Jake’s class dressed as flowers and performed a spectacular rendition of “I’m a little teapot”.

Sophie was there to cheer her brother on. She seemed [...]

Just thought I’d link to this very funny post on Cosmic Variance. She’s talking about discussions about science with kindergarten kids, and how their minds are time-shared between the rational and the not-so-much. Priceless quotes from the latter slice…could have came straight from the mouth of Jake the Snake!

Jacob came home this week with his first report card! Of course I didn’t need to read it to know what a terrific guy he is, but some might say I’m biased. Nonetheless, it was great to read all of the great things that [...]
